The Ants Go Marching

Well after almost a year of these poor ant farms living in the crap craft closet, I decided to pay the $7 and send away for the little critters. Lo and behold they show up 6 weeks later on one of the hottest days so far. Luckily they didn't get cooked in our mailbox!

So when Ryan got home from the paper last Sunday, he willingly started the madness at about 6:30 am. Such a good man!

I got woken up about 45 min later with Jacob running in to our room yelling, "I'm going to get Mommy!" I guess one of the ants had escaped while Ryan was trying to dump them into their new home. Those sucks are fast.

Once we got the ants all settled in their new homes, Hunter and I just hung out and watched them work for a good 30 minutes.

Here are the ants a week later. Such little workers! They have tubes on both sides to go back and forth. It's fascinating watching where they move the sand to and what they do with the deceased.

Now the question is, how long will they last?!
