Spin Art!!

Last night when I was catching up on my Google Reader I came across this fun art project. All you needed was a salad spinner, paper, and paint...nice and easy. We had 2 friends over today and I figured I'd give the project a try. Here is what the kids created:

They turned out so good and they loved being able to do pretty much everything themselves.

Hiking

*Just for the record it is generally never a good idea to go hiking in Arizona in July, even if the temperature is under 100.*

So last weekend Ryan we thought it would be a good idea to go to the White Tanks to hike the waterfall hike since we had a good rain the night before. By the time we got out there it was around 3:30-4...not the best time to be hiking.

As soon as we stepped out of the car there were little gnats ALL over the place. Poor Ryan was swatting at them the whole time. Add to that the humidity and heat and it wasn't the best conditions, but we trekked on.

The boys kept wanting to stop every 20 feet but we told them we had to keep going since there wasn't any shade. This was the first shady spot to rest and you can see their little red cheeks. After 3 hours 15 min. of hiking Jacob was done. His tummy was hurting and he just looked way too hot. So I got to walk back to the car carrying him while Hunter and Ryan finished the hike. The big boys made it to the waterfall and thankfully there was water there to make it worth while.

By the time Ryan and Hunter made it back to the car we were all exhausted, sweaty, and dirty. We also learned an important lesson: No hiking until the temps are in the 80s!

Happy Birthday Jacob!!!

Jacob is 3 years old today. Crazy how time has flown with this little monkey. Hunter was up at 6:30 ready to eat some donuts and open presents. Thankfully Jacob slept until 8:00!! (a nice present for me!) As soon as he woke up he announced, "Let's open my birthday presents!" We got Daddy up, popped some party poppers, and open presents. Today we are just hanging out at home playing with the new toys. He has a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party later this week that he is super excited for. Every day I get asked if we're going to Chuck E. Cheese. I don't' think that Jacob believes it's his birthday until we go there.

Singing happy birthday with his birthday donut...those boys LOVE their donuts.

Getting a little help from Hunter to blow out the candles

Running to go find the present from Daddy. He didn't have time to wrap it so he hid it under our bed.

Trying to get the guns to work...sadly they didn't' shoot so back to Wally World they go.

Thank you guys for all these presents!

It's official!

This crazy boy is now a certified big kid! We are on night #3 of NO bubbas!!!! Can you believe it?! I know either can I....absolutely nuts. Tuesday night we couldn't find his bubbas and I guess Jacob went to bed with no problems whatsoever. I found it when I got home from work but just hid it since he was sound asleep. Ever since he's be bubba free. He'll ask me for a bubba every now and then but it's usually when he's super tired, I just distract and he's good to go.

Also I think we are finally nighttime potty trained! Jacob's worn underwear to bed the past 3 nights also with no accidents. He's been day trained for a good 7 months but the night has been harder...we might finally be done with having to buy pull-ups. YAY!!!

What a great week for Jacob leading up to his 3rd birthday tomorrow. Be ready for all of the birthday posts....because remember it's birthday week in the Funk household!

We always wanted a helper monkey

Since that isn't very practical, we have a helper dog! Indy's sporting her newest fashion and she loves tolerates the boys adding tools to the pouch at the back. They told me that she needed all the tools so they could go to work. At least they're starting young!
