Shaving just like Daddy

Ok we had yet another birthday celebration today with Grandma and Grandpa Funk and Uncle Darrell. Uncle Darrell got Jacob a pretend shaving kit that came with the works: razor, shaving cream, mirror, comb, and brush. The boys did a really good job taking turns and could have shaved all night. Needless to say this present was a hit. Thanks Uncle Darrell!!

And the celebration continues!!!

One of the things my mom has taught me is to stretch out your birthday celebration as long as possible. It's never too early to start teaching the boys this too! We went to Chuck E. Cheese tonight with Grandma and Grandpa Funk to keep celebrating. The boys loved it. The game of the night was air hockey and then a mini-version of basketball. Hunter and Ryan kept playing games for tickets and when we were all done the boys each got a mini dinosaur and a tootsie roll. A perfect way to end the night.

And the potty successes continue!

We are on day 2 of no diapers during the day and so far so good! Granted he's been naked 80% of the time but when he's wearing underwear or pull-ups he still does pretty good. Tomorrow is our first day leaving the house while Jacob is learning...yikes! I foresee lots of stops on the side of the road for potty breaks. Good thing I keep a potty in the car! ;)

Happy Birthday Jacob!!

Jacob doesn't officially turn 2 until the 26th but we decided to have his party with our friends today so that everyone could make it. Everyone had a great time! Jacob spent most of the time naked (due to his potty training efforts) and thankfully no one seemed to care. :) The kiddos spent their time between the water outside and the playroom. Everyone had their own sack lunches and gobbled up the fruit that was set out. I tried something new and made cupcakes inside ice cream cones and they turned out pretty good. Jacob was singing Happy Birthday right along with everyone else...it was too cute! After the cupcakes the kids got to make their own ice cream sundaes which were a hit. I can't believe my baby is 2 already!

What happens when you let brothers sleep together for the first time...

*puppet shows
*playing with animals
*"mopping" the carpet
*banana snack
*getting more bubbas for Jacob
*being sent back to bed a dozen times before Mommy puts the gate up
*potty break after the gate is up
*lots of laughing and brother bonding

The timeline:
7:30--5 min to play
7:35--in bed, can still talk but need to stay in bed (I had high hopes for them) :)
7:35-8:30--coming out for whatever reason (pick from the above list)
8:30--Mommy's had enough and goes to tuck them in and lay down with them
8:35--Mommy leaves, crossing everything she can, and hopes the boys stay quiet
8:50--1 boy asleep and 1 to go!
9:15--2 boys dreaming away

Look what Daddy brought home tonight...

At 8:15 mind you! I had just put the boys down in Hunter's bed, since they had a good day today and their treat was to sleep together. Ryan gets home with these horns and wanted to show the boys since they were still up. Needless to say they were a hit! :)
Here's a video of the horns in action. Make sure your volume isn't high!

Woohoo!! Potty Sucess!

Ok so we're not "actively" potty training Jacob yet, but it would sure be nice to be done with diapers. With this ridiculous heat Jacob is getting a pretty bad heat rash on his back and bottom so he's been diaper less outside the past couple of days. I got brave today and let him run around inside with no diaper...yikes! I brought in the little potty from the car (yes I keep a potty in the car) so Jacob could use it. He immediately runs over and sits backwards on it trying so hard to get some pee-pee out. He kept going back to sit and then he decided to move it by the front door.

After lunch he was walking around holding himself and I told him to go potty. He ran over there and peed!! WOOOHOO!!! He was SO proud of himself...had a big smile on his face. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of diapers.

Good brother time

Hunter is really into playing games on my computer lately. I swear he is on the computer as much as I am! He loves to play on http://www.noggin.com/ and is pretty good at going to the different shows and games. Jacob wanted to see what was so interesting so he cozied up next to Hunter and watched. Hunter did a nice job and didn't get annoyed when Jacob wanted to watch.

Fourth of July

We had a good day with the Funks. We went over for lunch (yummy yummy food!), naps, and swimming and were completely exhausted by the end of the day. We had planned on getting home in time to see the fireworks over at Surprise Stadium, but we left too late. The boys did get to see fireworks on tv at Grandma and Grandpa's house before we left so they didn't completely miss out. Jacob kept pointing at the tv each time a firework went off and making his "surprised" face.

Our first camping adventure

Well we made it back from camping safe and sound on Thursday. I think we are all almost caught up on our sleep...that darn sun gets up SO early these days! Everyone had a great time. The boys loved being outside all day long. We hiked, played in the dirt, fished, and just had fun as a family. Each night we had a campfire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Hunter loved the roasting part of the marshmallows but would rather eat them out of the bag.

Some firsts from our trip...
*sleeping in a tent
*boat ride on Big Lake
*catching a fish
*trying the fish he caught (wasn't a fan though)
*being WIDE awake at 5am (thank goodness for Grandma and Grandpa in the motorhome!)
*Hunter taking a 3 mile hike without complaining too much

We definately will go camping again soon, once I've caught up on laundry from this trip (which could be months!)

What does your family do on a Sunday morning?

The Funk Family plays XBox 360 (well except for Mommy)! Yup, our boys, at the tender ages of 23 months and 3.5, are already playing video games!
Hunter and Jacob loved playing this game where they were spaceships trying to destroy flying things coming their way. Hunter wasn't too bad at it. For the longest time they wouldn't let Ryan have a turn to play! Jacob would only share when he needed to get something, but as soon as he was back it was his turn to play.

Here's a video of the boys playing
