A preview

Merry Christmas from the Funks!!

Santa has already been to our house and has left lots of goodies for the boys. He left a plethora of Star Wars toys (there's a bag filled with more guys on the side but Santa was too tired to set them all out) and a remote controlled helicoptor for each kid.

Merry Christmas Eve!!

I'm just going to jump right in with my blogging, even though I'm hideously behind. Tonight we celebrated with my mom's side of the family at our house. My mom, Hank, the Camerons, and Eric and Brandon came over for dinner and to play games.

One of the nights activities was BB gun shooting. Only our family would do that on Christmas Eve. All the kids got involved and Jacob loved it. Here's Brandon showing him how to aim.
Even the big kids had to get in on the action.

Happy 5th Birthday Hunter!!

Ok I'm almost a month late in posting this, but better late than never right?! Hunter had a Batman birthday party at home this year. We rented a bouncer and got a Batman pinata. All of his buddies came to help celebrate and they had a blast going from the bounce house, playroom, and back outside.

I can't believe that we have a 5 year old...where has the time gone?!

Such a mess

Jacob somehow made a complete mess with his gum on Thanksgiving. I have NO clue how this happened but he managed to get it all over his face, hands, and shirt. It took many ice cubes and cold water to get off the big chunks. He still had some stickiness left over but I think that came off as he played with his toys.

He looks so sad and embarrassed. It took some coaxing for him to even look at me.

Happy Halloween!!!!

Batman and Robin had a great Halloween this year. They were chomping at the bit for a good 2 days before to go trick or treating. Then finally on the 31st they couldn't understand why we had to wait until dark to go out and get candy. Once it was dark we then had to wait for Daddy and the Smiths to get there, they were dying!

I did let them go to one house by themselves before everyone got home and they were elated. Once Ryan, Nicole, Don, Evan, and Libby go there we trekked out to tackle the neighborhood. The kids had a great time running to the houses and ringing the door bell. They were all really good about saying "trick or treat" and "thank you."

After walking around our whole block the kids were starting to poop out so we headed back home. Amazingly they didn't attack the candy too much and were happy hanging out in the playroom.

*ETA: For some reason I never posted this back in November, so here you go!*

Don't mess with this kid

Jacob is seriously ticked off in this picture. He didn't get his way when they were playing Batman Lego on the Xbox360 and this was the reaction we got.

A day at the farm

We went to Tolmachoff Farms with preschool last month. The boys had a great time even though it was quite warm for October. You give those boys fresh air, room to run around, dirt, and animals and they are good to go!

They got to pick vegetables (cucumbers, squash, and zucchini), go in the corn maze, pet animals, and play in a corn box. It was a great day to hang out with our preschool friends.

Carnival time

The catholic church by our house is having a little carnival type deal, Carney's and all, in their parking lot this weekend. We drove by when they were setting up and Hunter was dying to go on the Ferris Wheel. So last night we decided to go check it out.

The kids had a lot of fun. Hunter and I waited in line for the Ferris Wheel while Ryan and Jacob went to go play games. Hunter waited so patiently in line, which took forever! I asked him a couple of times if he wanted to go play games but he wanted to wait. After 45 15 min we finally got on the Ferris Wheel. Hunter LOVED it! He loved being up high and then waving to Jacob and Daddy as we passed them. We must have gotten lucky because after our long wait we also had the longest ride known to man. I was done after 2 spins but Hunter wanted to keep going. Ryan said the operator dude was taking a smoke break while we went around, and around, and around. Lucky me.

We only played one game which was make the ping pong ball into a super small bowl to win a gold fish. Sad to say we didn't win any gold fish. Both boys were exhausted by the time we left and slept all night in their own beds!

"Deer" poop!

Ryan reseeded our grass this past weekend and the boys got to help him. Their job was to tip the big bags over and empty them on the grass. Ryan said they worked really well together and used teamwork (cue the theme song from Wonder Pets).

They came up to see me that night at work and my car REEKED like manure. I was then informed by both boys that they got to run around in deer poop!

They were both SO excited to tell me how they ran around and picked up the poop. I finally figured out they meant steer poop and not deer poop.

I guess Jacob fell face first into the poop and he was the main reason for stinking up my car.

Let's go do baseball!

Last weekend the weather was beautiful so we decided to get our lazy butts outside with the boys. We took them up to the high school so we could play our own version of baseball. Which basically means, Ryan and I take turns throwing pitches to each other, the boys and dog run around like maniacs, and the boys "play" baseball for all of 3 min.

Doesn't he look all sporty with the crocs? Let me tell you how GROSS Hunter's feet were after this outing...a nasty, sweaty mess!

What you don't have a psycho dog who tears around a baseball field like she's never been outside? Seriously, Indy went nuts. Poor dog doesn't get out much unless she escapes our yard. That dog loves to run.

They were practicing writing their names with the bats. Gotta keep those little minds going all the time!

A little water fun

I know it's October, but hey we live in Arizona and it's still hot! This started out with the boys using sidewalk chalk. Then they used the water bottles to sprinkle water on their drawing to see what happened. It then escalated into a full fledged water fight with the hose and everything. They were freezing (in the 98 degree heat) at the end and balked at the notion that I have them clean up their mess.

Once again you can thank us for helping out with the current drought.

Donut Day!

The background: My grandma was moved into an apartment so my mom got the lucky job of clearing out her 3 bedroom house. I got to go over to see if there was anything I needed or wanted. I found this little deep fryer and figured it could be useful/fun. Ryan was pretty darn excited when I brought it home stating that we were going to fry EVERYTHING!

Our first adventure in frying was making donuts this morning.

Everyone had their own jobs:
Hunter--making the holes in the biscuits & sprinkle duty
Daddy--frying the donuts
Jacob--stirring the frosting and sprinkly duty
Mommy--making the frosting

Such good multi-tasking, watching TV and stirring!

getting ready to take a bite of his creation

*I have NO clue why Hunter (or whoever is closest) gets so washed out everytime.

Jacob doing his sprinkle thing. He only wanted to eat the sprinkles, not the donuts.

The final product. Yummy!

It's a good day at our house today

Lego Batman came out today. Hunter and Jacob have been SO excited to play this game. They have been telling us that Hunter will be Batman and Jacob will Robin. They've played one level with only a small amount of exasperated "Jaaaaaaacob" from Hunter.

We've sold Indian Jones for this game so I have a feeling it will be all Batman at our house for awhile.
